Currituck County Release Meaning
A release record answers a narrow physical-custody question. It shows when a particular jail episode ended, which office acted, and whether the person went to the community or to another custodian. The Currituck County Detention Center is a county jail run by the Sheriff's Office. It is not part of the North Carolina prison system. Can a person be released and still supervised? Yes. Probation, parole, and post-release supervision take place in the community, so release from confinement does not always mean full discharge from the justice system.

The best confirmation uses two independent sources. The jail entry establishes the custody event, while the filed judgment, dismissal, bond order, or docket explains the case event. A court disposition can come before final jail processing. It may also leave another hold unresolved.

Currituck Bond Release Processing
The Detention Center says staff provide contact numbers for bondsmen. That local service does not make jail staff the bond decision-maker. The magistrate or court controls the conditions, and District 1 pretrial-release policies supply the legal framework. The initial bond shown in a booking record can change through later court action.
A bond order also does not establish the exact moment custody ended. Processing must finish, and another case or detainer may prevent community release. Use the filed order or court docket to understand the condition, then use the jail release entry for the actual Currituck exit time.

Currituck Detention Center Releases
The Currituck County Detention Center is the only local custodial facility identified for a dedicated page. The county says the 62-bed jail holds men and women, can accommodate juvenile offenders, primarily houses people before trial, and sometimes holds post-trial sentences. Staff also transport people to other facilities. Those facts explain why departure can mean bond, sentence completion, court release, or transfer. They do not establish annual release totals, and capacity cannot be turned into a release statistic.
A local community release is confirmed through the detention record and corresponding court event. If the record says DAC transfer, continue in OPI. If it names federal or immigration custody, use that sovereign's locator. Nearby Pasquotank Correctional Institution was not added as a Currituck facility because no official source identifies it as the county's assigned release facility.
